KAPLAYware is a NEW GAME IM WORKING ON!!!
Dance game has been temporarily paused due to needing art and a buncha stuff to be redone, it will eventually be done don't worry! It's just that im more focused on working on this one for now
Ok what is KAPLAYware?? It's a warioware-like game based/inspired on KAPLAY, the game engine/library i've used for years to make my games, hopefully this manages to be a way to pay back them all they've done to me
In this minigame you have to hit the tv to make it work again
And in this one you have to NOT press anything in order to not blow the earth
I've had a buncha fun doing it and have actually been drawing a lot of assets thank to it!
And it's also OPEN SOURCE!! Which means you can totally pull requesto it and if it's fine i might accept it! So yknow :)
Hope you guys enjoy it as much as i'm enjoying doing it!!

2024 was a crazy year!!! i finished clickery hexagon and started college, hope 2025 is even crazier (in a good way)
this year i hope to meet more wonderful people, work on tons of stuff and do a lot more cool stuff!!
some other things i hope are learn a skill!! anything like cooking or playing an instrument, hopefully i achieve it

sorry for the clickbait, i been working on some clickery updates that add final polishes to the game, fixing the most important bugs and making it a more pleasent experience
it has changelog in-game now!!
if you find more bugs, please report them to me so they can be fixed too

yesterday (09/28) it was my birthday!!! hopeful for another year of coding and game deving!!!
it was very nice, had dinner with my boyfriend and my best friend and we all had a great time
also got new headphones and a bit (lot) of money, yay!! yippeee
devky made an awesome drawing for my birthday, really appreciate it you should check it out and rate 5!!!!!!!!!!

when clickery hexagon was around half of its development i said i'd make a blog about the story of its development and some funny bits along the way...
so i did. and this is it!

clickery originally started as a small newgrounds experiment on unity called 'spinny hexagon game' which included some leaderboards and dumb medals, this was around march in 2022
oh this was so dumb

clickery continued in kinda late 2022 on kaboom, which was my goto game library after using unity (which now i don't like)
the game didn't make much progress, just a few small stuff, which wasn't too interesting
for 2023 i didn't code at all because last year of high school so i didn't do much
in my break after high school with 6 months to spare i decided to pick up where i left and started making clickery hexagon (the demo version)
the og demo that sucked
this demo was surprisingly functional, worked up until powerups
after the demo something called 'the big refactor' happened, so i basically made the game from 0 now starting with the VERY VERY VERY AWESOME INCREDIBLE decision of making the menus windows, which was suggested by lajbel
when this big refactor started happening i switched to kaplay, which is the continuation of the kaboom game library, check it out, pretty cool and i will probably use it for all my next games
one of the things that actually made this game awesome in my opinion
after that things had very smooth sailing and everything was good, until i ran in what the theme for the ascension mechanic should be? that's when i was talking to devky the game's main artist, and he suggested the very first clickery mage concept art

that absolutely blew my mind and made me very excited to keep working on the game!!!! did you know his robe was originally gonna be brown? whaaaat!!! in the end we settled for blue

to this day i still think the mage is one of the coolest things every and im very grateful for devky and his brilliant mind and i thank him every day for being such a big help for the game!!!!!
also the day he made the very first mage concept he also made this image, which then became very iconic for me and clickery development, i love it

after a while the game keep evolving, i kept on adding windows and other stuff, the playtester (Khriz28, very long dear friend) helped me along the days testing stuff etc etc, after the mage the development of the game was just a constant grind everyday at least 6 hours daily trying to finish features and the game
towards the very end it felt like i was scraping my brain on concrete trying to juice out the last hundred/thousand lines of code the game was missing to be finished
around this time devky started making the MEDAL ICONS ooooo that was such a big part of what makes me like this game, genuinely without his art the game just wouldn't be the same
the medals window was a pretty difficult thing to figure out because it had a few issues that i needed to iron out
that's when i got help from oliver_is_here which helped me making the medal window rework (and the color window sliders), big shout out to him!!

the day of release was a terrible day for me, i struggled so much with a lot of stuff, niceEli which also helped fix some code and the WHOLE support for the desktop version (BIG SHOUTS TO HIM TOO)
the game has had a big bug with hovers outside of windows, where if you hovered inside a window sometims it would hover the hexagon of the minibuttons, and for the life of me i couldn't figure out for the release day and still don't know how to fix it to this day, i'm very sorry everyone
i also struggled balancing all the audio files in the game, it really drained me off of all energy i had for that day

i wanted to balance them out for making a trailer! but after balancing the audio files and recording for an hour i realized OBS didn't record ANY OF IT (SCREW YOU!!)
in the end lajbel ended up making the trailer and it came out 1000 times better than anything i could have made, if you haven't watched WATCH IT and support it

after that i took an hour rest where i lost balance and hurt my foot (still hurts to this day, 2 weeks after, i really messed it up IDK HOW!!)
but it released, IT REALLY DID!!!!! i was so damn happy that the suffering had ended (kinda)
then i realized NG wasn't working for a lot of people, it was a funny bug actually, turns out when the game automaically logged you in if you were on newgrounds, it wouldn't enable ng internally which would not unlock medals for you nor upload scores
after like 2 days i fixed this issue AND add a feature which would display how much time it took you to unlock all achievements

now that clickery's over, i can focus on my studies (started uni/college, don't really know what's the difference) and maybe chillax and do some work on kaplay (the game library clickery is built on) so i can keep improving the code of my games and myself as a coder
a future game is NOT in the works, but it is on the thoughts, so look out for that!!
